My favorite flower is the Gladiola. The reason is because my late father always gave my twin sister and I a bouquet on our birthday.
Marilyn
Marilyn,
Your father must have been a wonderful man. I don’t think my father has ever given me flowers. He’s very generous and given me lots of things, but as I ponder…never got flowers.
Smiles,
Linda
My favorite flower is red roses
Kimberley,
Red roses seem to be the winning favorite of those commenting about them. You’re in good company.
Smile,
Linda
My favorite flower is the carnations. I love the different colors and they last quite a while.
Linda,
I think carnations are THE most VERSATILE flower there is. And, they will outlast any other flower in a vase.
Smiles,
Linda Joyce
My favorite flower has to be the hydrangea. When I was young, I called it Granny’s Flower. I have such fond memories of being allowed to pick one flower and what a gorgeous bouquet just that one huge flower made. I loved that it was delicate looking and a gorgeous deep blue. I’ve tried for years to grow them with no success. We have recently moved and now I’m hoping that the soil and light here will be allow me to finally grow some Granny Flowers.
Kay,
I have several small plants, but I had a blue one that was gorgeous. I brought it with me from Kansas to Georgia. Sadly, it just didn’t like it here. I hope you will have wonderful success. They are a gorgeous flower.
Smiles,
Linda
My favorite flower is Rose, because i like the scent and red is one of my favorite colors
Jodi,
A red, red rose… so poetic those red roses. Makes me think of love…and the thorns remind me of blood.
Smiles,
Linda
My favorite flower I have only seen once. It was a lime green rose. I bought the small plant with the beautiful blooms on it. We placed it in the old soap pot that was my husband’s mother’s. The next morning we went outside and deer had eaten every single bloom! It never did bloom again.
Mary,
I’ve never seen a rose that color. OH, the dang deer!
I’m so sorry.
Hugs,
Linda
Gardenia, big plant outside my bedroom window growing up. Definitely makes me think of the south and love. I can’t get one to grow now for love or money!!
Susan,
I love gardenias, too. We had several bushes doing well, but a freeze a few years back killed them all. Maybe I’ll try one. Just one. And see if it will grow.
Smiles,
Linda
My favorite flower is pink roses it was the first flower that someone special gave to me and that is why it is my favorite.
Debra,
What a lovely memory. Someday, you’ll have to tell me who that someone special is.
Smiles,
Linda
My favorite flower is the sunflower. Why? It’s always made me happy. When you look at the flower itself, it starts out dark inside and then radiates color outside. Shows that even if you’re sad… happiness is ready to bust its way out.
Shelby,
That’s a beautiful explanation about sunflowers. One of the things I like about the sunflower is that is always lifts its face to the sun. When I lived in Kansas, there were many huge fields of them. Their sweet faces followed the path of the sun, looking east in the morning and west in the evening.
Smiles,
Linda
I love roses, my birthday month flower, the colors, the scents, and the lovely petals.
Dean,
Roses…roses are red…so much poetry in a rose.
Smiles,
Linda
I don’t know that I have a favorite flower. Tulips are really pretty and so are lily’s. I really don’t even know what all my choices would be. ♀️
My favorite flower is the lilac. Growing up, there was a lilac tree outside of our backdoor, so in the spring time, we’d just walk outside into this amazing aroma. Just adored that tree and flower.
Rhi,
I had a similar experience when I lived in Spokane, WA. Doesn’t the scent just smell like spring?
Smiles,
Linda
My favorite flower is lilies. I like all the different verities.
Tammy,
I love stargazer lilies, however, they now trigger my allergies, so I can have them in the house, just not in the kitchen or my bedroom.
Smiles,
LJ
My favorite flower is the rose. We have several beautiful rose bushes and trees – in red, orange and several shades of pink.
Karen,
I think of my mom when I think of roses. She grew them…and I have a funny story about her and her roses…but that’s for another time.
Smiles,
Linda
My favorite flower is the lilac. I think because my favorite color is purple and the fact that they grew on my grandparents farm in Colorado and I always loved to see the big blossoms are also reasons. Their smell is wonderful. I rarely see them as they do not grow where I live.
Jackie,
The scent of lilac means spring to me. When I lived in Spokane, WA, outside my bedroom window was a HUGE bush. I never knew a bush could smell so sweet.
Smiles,
Linda
Poppies hold a special place in my heart; red poppy pins for Remembrance Day as a child. So many varieties and in so many glorious colours. I’d like to find a field of them like you see in a Claude Monet painting someday.
Sue A.
Claude Monet is one of my most favorite artists. I love art museums the best.
Smiles,
LJ
I do love daisies. They are such a cheerful, unassuming flower.
I am INT.
Mary,
They are indeed cheerful.
Smiles,
Linda
I really like stella d’oros because they have a pretty yellow color and they bloom until frost.
Lori,
They are shiny, like you.
Smiles,
LJ
My favorite flowers are roses. My grandparents grew several varieties and my grandmother always had a base filled with roses in the house. They smelled so good! Before they died they have me a couple of bushes to transplant.Unfortunately, they did not survive.I have planted my own roses but they never seen to smell as good as my grandfather’s rose bushes!
Catherine,
I so admire anyone who can grow roses. They are such a temperamental plant. And so many of the varieties today, just don’t have the fragrance–as you have experienced.
Hugs,
Linda
I love Daisies they remind my of sun shine.
My favorite flower is a snapdragon. It reminds me of when I was a little girl and got my big toe almost cut off, my babysitter at that time when out and brought me a bunch of snapdragons in a cup. It has always stayed with me 50 years later.
I love lavender. Purple is my favorite color and they smell divine. I buy everything such as candles, lotions and even perfume that is lavender.
I love so many flowers that I honestly can’t decide, Linda. I guess my favorite genus is orchids. I just love how many types there are.
Lately, I have been looking for purple and red flowers. I just been obsessed with these two colors for my garden. It doesn’t matter what kind of flower, I just want to plant purple and red flowers.
My favorite flowers are sweet peas. I love their delicate colors, their smell, and how wonderful they look growing by a fence.
My favorite flower is tiger lilys. I love their vibrant colors and how they manage to thrive every year.
I have 2 favorites iris, the purple color is so pretty and the hibiscus Red ones are my favorite there
Jean,
Two beautiful favorite flowers. Thanks for sharing.
Smiles,
Linda
my favorite is lilac if that can be considered a flower since it grows on a bush. I always remember growing up my mother always kept some in the house when they bloomed in spring. Every time I smell it, I think of those years.
Lynn,
I consider it a flower. So fragrant. I love lilacs.
Smiles,
Linda
My favorite flower would be the lily. My mum always would buy them for Easter.
Jane,
The lily certainly is the announcement of SPRING!
Smiles,
Linda
My favorite flower is the Tiger Lily. When I was 8 – 10 yrs old I lived at a church camp in the San Bernardino mountains of southern California. Tiger lilies grew abundantly and they made me smile, that’s why they are my favorite. It was an amazing part of my life!
Sabrina,
What a wonderful memory! And mountains in southern CA are fabulous!
Smiles,
Linda

Melissa,
WHERE in Kansas do you live? I used to live in Olathe. I worked in Shawnee Mission. My daughter lives in Topeka. I will be in KC next October for a book signing. Hope you’ll come say Hello!
Smiles,
Linda
Purple roses because they are not very common and if someone took the time to get them for me I know they took some effort to find them and they also know that it means more to me than just giving me red roses.
Teresa,
I don’t think I’ve ever seen purple roses. I’ll have to look them up.
Smiles,
Linda
I don’t see them very often but the ones that I have seen are a light to medium purple. Purple is my favorite color and that is why I like them the most but they are beautiful when they can be found.
I like Lilacs because they are a pretty color and because they actually smell good. Not all flowers do.
Melanie,
I love Lilacs, too. When I lived in Spokane, WA, we had a HUGE bush outside my bedroom window. Sadly, I have never lived somewhere that I could grow them again.
Smiles,
Linda
My favorite flower is a pink carnation. We I was growing up my Great-grandma used to always have pink carnations in a vase on her kitchen table. I loved going to see my grandma and her pretty pink flowers. One of my most favorite memories of her.
Sarah H.
Thank you for sharing such a sweet memory.
Smiles,
Linda Joyce
My favorite flower is the wild violet. We use to make chain necklaces
out of them when we were young. My wedding bouquet was all
violets. They are growing wild all over our yard.
Carol,
What a sweet memory! Your words sparked my memories of flower necklaces–only mine were dandelions.
Smiles,
Linda
My favorite flower is the Calla Lily I’ve just always loved it’s look
Maritza,
The Calla Lily is very regal and elegant. I can understand why you love it.
Smiles,
Linda
I’m not sure if I have a favorite flower because I like them all, but being on facebook gives you daily doses of every flower created. I find I really like the pink Gerbera Daisys. They are so pretty and delicate looking.
Sharon,
I think I’m going to try to grow some Gerbera Daisies next year. 🙂
Smiles,
Linda
My favorite flower is the iris. I think it’s a very elegant flower. My mother had a section in her garden that was all irises in various shades of purple and yellow. When they bloomed I felt that spring had finally arrived.
Susanna,
I have irises in my garden. 🙂
Smiles,
Linda Joyce
My favorite flower is a red rose. When I was a bride 52 years ago my bouquet was many red roses all made as one rose. My husband made me a rose garden.
Myra,
Your bouquet sounds lovely. Red roses, for me, are both so heartwarming and heartbreaking…I’ve had too many funerals in too few years where roses were the casket spray.
Hugs,
Linda
My favorite flower is the lowly dandelion. Because I am a beekeeper and this is the first flowers of the spring to help feed bees and provide nectar for making honey. So don’t pull up your dandelions! They are pretty and very important to honeybees! lol
LisaB,
When I lived in Kansas, we had a 40-acre off the leash park for the dogs near my house. I would take my 3 boys there, Monday through Friday for a run. My little one, the Papillon, wanted to consume every dandelion he found. So, in the spring, I had to keep him on a short leash at the dog park…otherwise, he’d be stuffed!
Thank you for being a beekeeper. We need the bees!
Linda Joyce
I like white and pink day lilies. The are just so pretty… I chose them as the main flowers in my bridal bouquet many years ago.
Catrina,
It had to be a beautiful bouquet.
Smiles,
Linda
I really don’t have a favorite flower…I find them all beautiful BUT for fragrance it would be night blooming jasmine. They are so tiny and beautiful and SO full of fragrance !
I like daisies because they are so pure and simple.
Yellow roses are my all time favorite.
I love purple roses. They’re absolutely beautiful! I’d never seen one until my husband gave a dozen to me for my birthday. My favorite is an orchid color that he gives me for Valentine’s Day and every birthday.
Tina,
I see your comment and it is approved. Thank you for joining in the fun!
Smiles,
Linda
